Berlin Native Nurtures Good Health, Life and Business on Maryland's Coast

Cassandra Brown

Born, raised and educated in Worcester County, Cassandra Brown always dreamed of owning her own business.

After raising her family in her hometown of Berlin, she was volunteering as a town ambassador and working part-time, when fate intervened. The original proprietors were retiring and asked Cassandra if she would be interested in taking over the reins of Una Bella Salute, the specialty shop where she worked.

It didn’t take long for she and her husband Randy - who had recently retired from the State of Maryland – to embrace their entrepreneurial spirit. They bought the business in 2018, a move that recalled her family’s downtown merchant heritage.

Cassandra explains, “During the mid-1900’s, my grandfather owned a barbershop in Berlin. I’ve always wanted a business and now that I have one here, I feel like my family life has come full circle. I’m proud to be a business owner in the place I live and love.”

Una Bella Salute – which means Good Health in Italian – is located next to the popular Globe restaurant and theatre. Stepping through the warm and welcoming entry, customers are greeted by rows of polished metal barrels filled with first-press organic olive oils from around the world.

The shop also features Italy’s celebrated balsamic vinegars distilled in Modena alongside gourmet olives, salts and pasta. Cassandra plans to expand their line of imported products with Italian ceramics and kitchenware.

The Browns loyal customers include area chefs and vacationers to Maryland’s Coast who make regular visits to Una Bella Salute to replenish their pantry provisions. Learn more about Una Bella Salute online or follow them on Facebook.
